Yamunotri Temple closes every year on Diwali. For 2026, the temple is expected to close on 15 November 2026. After the closing ceremony, the Utsav Murti of Goddess Yamuna is taken to Kharsali village (near Janki Chatti), where it is worshipped throughout the winter months (November to April).

The trek route will be open from the temple opening date โ landslide clearance teams work before the season begins.
