🌿 Mountain Food on the Yamunotri Route

The Yamunotri route — from Janki Chatti through the 6 km trek to the temple — is lined with tea stalls and small dhabas serving simple, pure vegetarian food. The cuisine is traditional Garhwali, cooked with locally grown millets, lentils, and mountain greens.

For a wider dining experience, Barkot (45 km from Yamunotri) and Uttarkashi (97 km) are the best towns. Here you'll find full-fledged restaurants serving authentic Garhwali thalis alongside North Indian staples, local sweets, and refreshing mountain chai.
